Good Work
Mix · Track · Edit Est. 2025

Good songs deserve good work.

A mixing and recording studio for artists who'd rather sound like themselves than like everyone else.

What I do

From first take to final mix.

01

Production

Light production when a song asks for it. Arrangement notes, an extra part, a second opinion you can trust.

02

Tracking

Overdubs and small-ensemble sessions. For full-band live tracking, I partner with a room that fits the record.

03

Editing

Comps, timing, tuning — handled with a light hand. Tight where it needs to be, human everywhere else.

04

Mixing

The main thing. Hybrid analog workflow, vocals up front, drums that hit without flattening the song.

A mix is a musical decision, not a technical afterthought.
How I work

The song comes first.

Every mix starts with a couple of passes just listening — no faders, no plugins. What's the song doing? What's the singer saying? What has to be in front, and what can sit back and hold the floor up?

Everything after that is in service of the answer. I'm not trying to make your record sound like a reference track. I'm trying to make it sound like the best version of itself.

  • Song firstThe mix serves the song, not the other way around.
  • AuthenticityPreserve the human element. Perfect isn't the goal.
  • CraftsmanshipAttention to detail, on every pass.
  • HonestyFair rates, realistic timelines, straight talk.
The engineer

One ear, start to finish.

I'm Charlie. I run Good Work Recordings out of a project studio in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and I mix records for independent artists.

No assistants, no hand-offs, no queue of interns pushing your session through a template. You hire me, you get me — from the first conversation to the final print.

I work fast enough to keep a project moving and slow enough to hear what's actually there. If your record needs mastering, I'll point you to someone who does it better than I would.
